A year ago today ...

It's hard to believe that it was just a year ago today that Kevin and I got married, in Arkansas, in front of our friends and family. So much has happened since then: two moves, two new jobs, two new pets, and now a baby fast on its way. Unlike last year, we won't be celebrating the day with any of our friends or family. It's just the two of us here in Edmonton today, and perhaps that is as it should be. A marriage is made up of just two people, and that's all we've had to rely on, really, in this, our first year of marriage.

We're keeping our celebration quiet this year -- unlike the blowout we had last year -- just a frozen pizza, a glass of wine (for Kevin), and each other. (We have blessedly locked away the animals for the night for some real adult time.) Tomorrow we're doing a more formal celebration with a trip to the theatre to see A Christmas Carol -- Kevin's gift to me. It may be the very last "night out" we have for some time.

In the meantime, I'm just beginning work on a scrapbook of our wedding. I figure if I don't do it before the baby comes, I 'll never get it done. And remembering the magic of that big day is a nice way to pass the time until our next big day is here.
