BOY! It's hardly a secret, but I realize that I never made the official announcement, so here it is: Kevin and I are expecting a little boy in late April/early May. We so excited to be adding to our family--and so excited for Colin that he will have a little brother close in age. I think it's important for boys to have brothers, don't you?
Anyway, that more or less explains my absence from blogging all fall. "Morning sickness" is a misnomer--I was sick all day long, often several time a day. I'm so glad that's over now and that my energy has picked up so I can get back to life and start preparing for this new life that is coming. You can expect a lot of crafting on these pages while I'm expecting!
In other news, we've decided to go the midwife route this time instead of with my previous obstetrician. I'm low-risk, and Colin's birth was (relatively) uneventful, so we're hoping that using a midwife will allow us to have a quieter birth with even fewer interventions. I even got my obstetrician's blessing. He said that he thought I was a perfect candidate and that in the UK, where he was born, it's quite common for a second-time mothers to use a midwife instead of a doctor. And did I mention that it's completely covered by the "wacky socialist healthcare system" up here? I'm really excited about this new adventure and will probably blog about it here a little as well.
So thanks to all of you who have been sharing in this happiness with us for the past few months. And to everyone: thoughts and advice on having two little boys two years apart? Invest in sturdy toys, I'm guessing...
